Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is the 49th and current vice-president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and also holds the title of most powerful female officer in the history of America. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who worked for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her sharp questions of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
